Line Item Description

This NDIS support item (01_203_0115_1_1) falls under the Core Support category, within the registration group for Assistance with Daily Life Tasks in a Group or Shared Living Arrangement (0115).

Purpose of the Support Item

This support is designed to provide additional one-on-one (1:1) assistance for a participant's self-care and personal activities while they are accessing Short Term Accommodation and Assistance (STA), commonly known as respite. This specific line item is to be claimed for support delivered on a Sunday.

It funds the supplementary support worker hours needed above the ratio already included in the daily STA rate. This is typically used when a participant requires dedicated 1:1 support for personal tasks due to the complexity of their needs, or if more than one support worker is required simultaneously for a period (e.g., a 2:1 ratio), even if the base STA rate covers a 1:1 ratio.

What the Support Covers

The funding covers direct, hourly support for daily personal tasks during the Sunday of an STA stay. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance or supervision with:

Personal hygiene activities (showering, grooming, oral care).

Dressing and undressing.

Assistance with mobility and transfers within the accommodation setting.

The key goal is to ensure the participant maintains their routine, independence, and personal well-being while away from their primary residence, providing essential, tailored support to meet their disability-related needs over the weekend.

Important Note

This support item covers the cost of the support worker hours only and does not include the cost of accommodation, food, or negotiated activities, which are covered under the main STA and Assistance daily rate support item.
