Line Item Description

This NDIS support item (01_452_0115_1_1) is a specialized and high-intensity support that is included within the Core Support category, and falls under the registration group Assistance with Daily Life Tasks in a Group or Shared Living Arrangement (0115).

Purpose of the Support Item

This line item is utilized to fund the provision of intensive support delivered by support workers who possess the necessary qualifications, experience, and training to safely and effectively manage the complex or challenging behaviours of a participant. It is specifically for participants who have been formally assessed and included in their NDIS plan as requiring High Support Needs (HSN) due to the nature and intensity of their behaviour-related support requirements.

The line item is claimed for all direct support hours provided on a Saturday. The enhanced rate for this support reflects the difficulty and skill required to deliver these complex supports, as well as the penalty rates applicable for weekend work.

What the Support Covers

This hourly support item covers the cost of the dedicated, highly skilled worker time to provide direct support and intervention, including:

Implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP): Following and applying strategies outlined in a PBSP developed by a Behaviour Support Practitioner.

Active Monitoring and Intervention: Providing continuous monitoring and proactive intervention to prevent escalation of challenging behaviours and ensure the safety and well-being of the participant and others.

Capacity Building through Active Support: Working intensively with the participant to develop their emotional regulation and functional life skills, in line with their goals and the PBSP.

Important Note

This support is only to be claimed where the participant's plan explicitly includes funding for Intensive and Complex Behaviour Supports, demonstrating the necessity for this higher level of care. It covers the support worker's time only.
