Purpose of the Support Item

This specific item is used for support provided during the full day on a Sunday. What the Support Covers

This hourly support covers the direct time of the specialist worker engaged in implementing strategies for behaviour support, including:

High-Intensity Interventions: Dedicated, structured support to address and manage complex behavioural issues in real-time, based on a formal, funded Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP).

Skill Maintenance and Capacity Building: Engaging the participant in activities and strategies that help them maintain emotional regulation and functional life skills throughout the day.

Complex Needs Management: Providing immediate, specialised assistance for any high-risk situation related to the participant’s behaviour that requires a focused, expert response.

This support is only to be claimed for participants whose NDIS plan includes specific funding for Intensive and Complex Behaviour Supports, indicating the necessity for support from staff with additional qualifications, training, and experience in managing complex needs. The funding covers the support worker's time only.
