Line Item Description

This line item is used for claiming Supported Independent Living (SIL) supports that are delivered on an hourly basis during a weekday evening. It falls under the Core - Assistance with Daily Life support category.

Purpose and Scope
The primary purpose of this support is to provide assistance with, or supervision of, daily life tasks for a participant in a shared living environment. The focus is on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible.

This specific line item applies to supports provided to a participant on a weekday evening, which the NDIS defines as starting at or after 8:00 pm and finishing at or before midnight on a single weekday.

It's important to note that SIL funding does not cover rent, board, lodging, or other day-to-day living expenses like food.

NOTE: There is not such a thing as NDIS personal care rate that has to be paid (or NDIS personal care fees). The price given in NDIS Pricing Arrangements is the maximum that can be charged. However, this does not mean that you have to charge at this rate. In fact, it is usually wise to charge less - a lot of providers do this in order to get more work.
