Support Details

This line item is for providing assistance with, or supervision of, tasks of daily life in a shared living environment, with a focus on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible. The support is provided to each person living in the shared arrangement in accordance with their need.

This specific item is for supports delivered to a participant who has a need for High Intensity Supports. A support is considered High Intensity if it involves services set out in Schedule 2 - Module 1 of the NDIS (Provider Registration and Practice Standards) Rules 2018.

The support must be delivered on a Public Holiday. For NDIS claiming purposes, a Public Holiday Support is defined as any support that starts at or after midnight on the night prior to a Public Holiday and ends before or at midnight of that Public Holiday (unless it is a Night-time Sleepover Support).

Supported Independent Living does not include rent, board and lodging or other day-to-day usual living expenses such as food and activities. It also does not include the capital costs associated with a participant's accommodation.

Claiming Guidelines

This support item can be delivered to individual participants or to groups, subject to the rules for group-based supports. Providers should use either the weekly SIL support item or the hourly SIL support items, but not a combination of both.

In addition to the direct delivery of supports, providers can claim using this line item for the following activities:
