Line Item Description

NDIS line item 01_821_0138_1_1 for Supported Independent Living Weekly funds a weekly package of paid personal supports for participants with higher support needs who require assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight. This support is designed to help participants live as independently as possible and build their daily living skills in either shared housing or a solo living arrangement.

What is Included:
* Direct help or supervision with daily personal care tasks.
* Skill-building support for meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and routine development.
* Active implementation of any behaviour support plans.
* Support for developing social skills and ensuring personal safety and security.
* Assistance with taking medication and attending medical appointments.
* Support for non-routine community access, such as visiting family or attending hydrotherapy sessions.

What is Excluded:
* Day-to-day living costs unrelated to the disability, such as rent, board, groceries, and utility bills (gas, electricity, water, internet).
* Vehicle costs, holiday expenses, and household budgeting.
* Nursing, medical, palliative care, or other supports funded by the health or justice systems.
* Additional provider claims for vacancy periods if another participant moves out of a shared home.

Provider Requirements:
* All supports billed under this line item must be managed and delivered by a registered NDIS provider.
* The provider’s costs for management, staff training, and shadow shifts are already built into the funding rate.
