Support Details

This line item is for providing assistance with, or supervision of, tasks of daily life in a shared living environment. The focus is on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible.

This specific item is for Night-Time Sleepover supports. This provides a participant with assistance or supervision for personal tasks of daily life where overnight support is needed, but the caregiver is permitted to sleep when not required to provide support.

A sleepover is a continuous period of eight hours or more that commences before midnight and finishes after midnight. This support item applies to any day of the week, including public holidays , and includes up to two hours of active support provided to the participant during the shift.

Supported Independent Living does not include rent, board and lodging, or other day-to-day living expenses such as food and activities , nor does it cover the capital costs of the accommodation.


Claiming Guidelines

This support item can be delivered to individual participants or to groups, subject to the rules for group-based supports. Providers should use either the weekly SIL support item or the hourly SIL support items, but not a combination of both.

In addition to the direct delivery of supports, providers can claim using this line item for the following activities:

Short Notice Cancellation (7 days)
Irregular SIL Supports
