Purpose of the Support This line item funds high-intensity support for NDIS participants to safely and actively engage in community, social, and/or recreational activities that take place on a Sunday.

High Intensity Support The term "High Intensity" indicates that the participant requires a more complex or specialized level of assistance to manage their daily and community activities. This support necessitates a skilled or experienced support worker. High Intensity support workers are often required to have additional skills and knowledge, for example, to implement support plans relating to complex needs such as:

Complex bowel care

Enteral feeding and management

Tracheostomy management

Complex wound care

The worker providing this support implements plans developed by an appropriately qualified health practitioner and ensures the participant's safety, inclusion, and active participation in the community setting.

Participant Outcomes By utilizing this support on Sundays, participants are empowered to achieve key outcomes including heightened social interaction, deeper community connections, and improved life skills. This support helps to foster independence and enhances the participant's physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being by facilitating engagement in complex and vibrant community settings on the weekend.

Note on Usage The support is generally provided on an hourly basis. Providers can also claim for associated costs such as non-face-to-face support provision, provider travel, and short-notice cancellations, in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. A quote may be required for this support item.
