Purpose of the Support This funding covers the cost of changes made to a vehicle specifically related to seating and occupant restraint systems to ensure the NDIS participant can drive or travel in it safely and comfortably due to the functional impact of their disability. The goal of the modification is to help you pursue your goals, get to places you need to go, and participate in work, social, and community activities with greater independence.

Installation of modified restraints and certified seat belt systems (e.g., harnesses or specialised locking belts).

Important Considerations All modifications must be considered reasonable and necessary by the NDIS. For the modification to be funded:

The vehicle must be owned by the participant or a family member, or you must have regular access to it and permission from the owner to make the changes.
