Service Details:

Time of Delivery: Support under this line item is specifically provided on Saturdays. Providing support on a weekend ensures continuity of care and the flexibility required for participants to maintain momentum in their recovery, including engaging in social and community activities.

The Role of the Recovery Coach: A Psychosocial Recovery Coach is a specialised NDIS-funded professional focused on a recovery-oriented approach, which means supporting the participant to live a purposeful and meaningful life of their choice. The coach acts as a consistent and reliable relationship to support individuals through the complex challenges of daily living, particularly during periods of increased need.

Core Activities: The coaching is primarily focused on capacity building and typically involves:

Developing a strong, respectful, and trusting relationship (building connection).

Working with the participant and their support network to identify, plan, design, and coordinate all relevant supports and services, both NDIS-funded and non-NDIS.

Building skills, capacity, and resilience to manage their mental health and daily tasks, and achieve personal goals.

Increasing a participant's understanding of their NDIS plan, rights, and how to effectively use their funded supports.

Required Experience: Recovery Coaches are required to have professional mental health knowledge and must meet minimum qualification standards, typically a Certificate IV in Mental Health or Mental Health Peer Work, and/or two years of experience in the field. Many coaches offer valuable lived experience of mental ill health and recovery.

Claiming: This support item can be used to claim for direct face-to-face support, as well as associated professional activities such as Non-Face-to-Face support, Provider Travel, Short Notice Cancellation (7 days), and NDIA Requested Reports. Providers may also claim for non-labour travel costs and activity-based transport using separate, relevant line items.
