The Role of the Recovery Coach: A Psychosocial Recovery Coach is a specialised NDIS-funded professional focused on a recovery-oriented approach, which means supporting the participant to live a purposeful and meaningful life of their choice. The coach works to build the participant's capacity, assisting them to take more control of their lives and better manage the complex challenges of day-to-day living.

Core Activities: The coaching is a capacity-building service that typically involves:

Building a recovery-enabling relationship with the participant.

Developing and reviewing a tailored recovery plan.

Coaching to increase personal capacity, including motivation, strengths, and resilience.

Supporting connections with clinical and community mental health services and other NDIS providers.

Enhancing self-management skills, independence, and social participation.

Required Experience: Recovery Coaches possess mental health knowledge and should have minimum qualifications, such as a Certificate IV in Mental Health or Mental Health Peer Work, and/or two years of relevant experience. They may also use their own lived experience of mental health challenges to inform their work.

Claiming: This line item covers the provision of the coaching support on a Public Holiday. Providers can also claim for associated professional activities, including Non-Face-to-Face support, Provider Travel, Short Notice Cancellation (7 days), and NDIA Requested Reports, following the rules outlined in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements.
