The purpose of this line item is to fund employment related assessment, counselling, and advice provided by a Rehabilitation Counsellor to assist NDIS participants in achieving their employment goals.

Key Outcomes and Activities:

Vocational Assessment: The Rehabilitation Counsellor conducts assessments to understand the participant's skills, interests, vocational aptitude, and how their disability or health condition impacts their work capacity.

Goal Setting and Planning: This involves developing a tailored vocational rehabilitation plan which includes setting realistic employment goals, identifying necessary supports, and outlining the steps to achieve them (e.g., training, job search strategies).

Counselling and Adjustment: Provides specialist counselling to help the participant manage psychological and emotional barriers related to injury, illness, or disability, and adjust to the world of work.

Job Search and Maintenance: Support may include career guidance, resume building, interview preparation, and strategies to successfully secure and maintain a job.

Professional Requirement: This support item must be delivered by a Rehabilitation Counsellor who is a member of a recognised professional association, such as the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC).
