Line Item Description

This support item is part of the Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living support category.

It is specifically for providing capacity building supports in early childhood, including the use of a key worker. The support assists a child (younger than 9) with a developmental delay or disability, along with their family or carers.

Supports can be delivered in various settings, including the home, community, and early childhood education settings. The goal of this support is to work towards increased functional independence and social participation for the child.

Providers of this support are expected to deliver services in line with the NDIS Commission's NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators for Early Childhood Supports. This item can also be used for the assessment, planning, and delivery of Disability-Related Health Supports if they directly relate to the participant's functional impairment and assist with daily living activities.


Provider Qualifications
This line item is used for services delivered by an "Other Early Childhood Intervention Professional". This is defined as a person who:
- Does not meet the definitions of other listed professions (such as Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, or Speech Pathologist).
- Has a bachelor's degree or higher in their relevant area.
- Holds current registration or membership with their relevant registration and/or professional body.

Providers must claim against the support item that most accurately reflects the support provided; this item should not be used if a more specific line item (e.g., Art Therapy) exists for that profession.

Service Delivery
Supports can be delivered to individual participants or to groups, subject to the NDIS claiming rules for group-based supports.

In addition to direct service provision, providers can claim for the following activities using this support item:
- Non-Face-to-Face Support Provision
- Provider Travel
- NDIA Requested Reports
- Short Notice Cancellation (2 clear business days)
- Travel Rules

Providers can claim for the non-labour costs of travel using support item 15_799_0118_1_3. In line with the rules for therapy providers, the hourly price limit for provider travel time is 50% of the regular price limit for this support item.
