Assessment Recommendation Therapy or Training - Developmental Educator

This support item falls under the Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living support category and is used to provide therapeutic services to participants aged 9 or older.


Support Details The primary goal of this support is to facilitate functional improvement , or to assist a participant with adjustment, adaption, and building capacity for independence and community participation.


Services delivered under this item can include:


Therapeutic Supports: Services for participants with an established disability to improve function.


Maintenance Care: Ongoing support to help a participant maintain their current level of functioning, achieve small incremental gains, or prevent functional decline.


Carer Training: Providing reasonable and necessary training to carers or non-qualified personnel to assist a participant as part of their usual daily care.


Disability-Related Health Supports: This item can be used for the assessment, planning, and delivery of disability-related health supports that relate to a participant's functional impairment and assist with activities of daily living.

This support cannot be used for massage, as that is considered a health system responsibility. Services can be delivered to individual participants or to groups.


Provider Qualifications This support item must be delivered by a Developmental Educator. A Developmental Educator is defined as a person who is a Full Member of Developmental Educators Australia Inc..


Alternatively, the support can be delivered by a Therapy Assistant (Level 1 or Level 2) operating under the delegation and supervision of a qualified Developmental Educator.
