NDIS Support Item: 15_620_0128_1_3 Assessment Recommendation Therapy or Training - Rehabilitation Counsellor

This support item is part of the Capacity Building budget under the Improved Daily Living support category.


It is a therapeutic support intended for participants aged 9 or older and covers services provided by a qualified Rehabilitation Counsellor. To deliver this support, the professional must be a member of the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors Inc. (ASORC) or equivalent.



This support is aimed at facilitating functional improvement for participants with an established disability where maximum medical improvement has been reached. It can also be used for:


Maintenance Care: To provide ongoing support for a participant to maintain their current level of functioning, achieve small incremental gains, or prevent functional decline.


Carer Training: Delivering reasonable and necessary training to non-qualified personnel or carers to assist a participant as part of their usual daily care.


Disability-Related Health Supports: Assessment, planning, and delivery of health supports that relate to a participant's functional impairment and assist with activities of daily living.

This item cannot be used for massage, which is considered a support more appropriately funded by the health system.

Supports can be delivered to individual participants or in a group setting.

Non-Face-to-Face Support Provision


Provider Travel: Claims for provider travel time are subject to a price limit that is 50% of the regular hourly rate for this item.



Short Notice Cancellation: Claimable if a cancellation is made with less than two (2) clear business days' notice.
