Speech Pathologist - Assessment Recommendation Therapy or Training

Line Item Description

This NDIS support item 15_622_0128_1_3 provides therapeutic services to participants aged 9 or older. It is designed to facilitate functional improvement and can also be used for maintenance care to help a participant maintain their level of functioning, achieve small incremental gains, or prevent functional decline.

This support can be used for:
- Developing a participant's skills and capacity for independence and community participation.
- Training non-qualified personnel or carers to assist a participant with a regime as part of their daily care.
- The assessment, planning, and delivery of Disability-Related Health Supports where these supports directly relate to a participant's functional impairment and assist with activities of daily living.
- This support can be delivered to individual participants or in a group setting.

Provider and Claiming Rules
Eligible Providers This support must be delivered by a qualified Speech Pathologist, defined as a person who is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) as approved by Speech Pathology Australia.

Services may also be provided by a Therapy Assistant (Level 1 or 2) operating under the delegation and supervision of a qualified Speech Pathologist. The supervising therapist's professional indemnity insurance must cover the therapy assistant.

Claiming Rules In addition to the direct delivery of the support, providers can also claim for:
- Non-Face-to-Face Support Provision
- Provider Travel (Note: The price limit for therapist travel time is 50% of the regular hourly rate)
- NDIA Requested Reports
- Short Notice Cancellation (with 2 clear business days' notice)
