‘Notional Unit Price’ Support Line Item is a type of line items under NDIS Pricing Arrangements. Supports are not subject to a price limit and $1.00 is not the maximum price to be charged for a unit, it is how a claim is made to the NDIA.Each of the Notional Unit Prices might have their own pricing limits.

Line Item Description

This National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) support item, 01_050_0115_1_1 Assistance With Daily Life Tasks Provided In Residential Aged Care Facility, falls under the Core Supports category. It is specifically designed to fund disability-related supports and certain aged care costs for NDIS participants who reside in a Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF).

Purpose of the Support Item The support is intended to ensure that NDIS participants in RACFs receive the disability-specific assistance they need, beyond the standard care services funded by the aged care system. This allows the participant to live as autonomously as possible and pursue their NDIS goals.

What the Funding May Cover The funding for this line item may cover two distinct areas, provided they are considered Reasonable and Necessary and relate to the participant’s disability:

Disability Support: Assistance with daily life tasks (ADLs) that are required due to the participant's disability. This can include personal care, assistance with mobility, or support with complex daily activities.

Certain Aged Care Costs: For eligible participants, this item can also be used to fund the cost of the Means-Tested Care Fee and/or accommodation costs, typically a rental-style payment like the Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) or Daily Residential Aged Care Amount (DRAC).

Key Conditions for Use

Stated Support: This is a Stated Support item and must be explicitly included in the participant’s NDIS plan before it can be claimed.

Quote Required: This item is also classified as a Quotable Support, meaning a negotiated service agreement and quote must be in place before the support is delivered.

Exclusions: It is important to note that this funding does not cover day-to-day living costs that all aged care residents are responsible for, such as the Basic Daily Fee.

Claiming: Participants or their Plan Manager/Financial Intermediary typically pay the aged care fees/costs to the RACF first and then seek reimbursement from the NDIS against this line item.
