‘Notional Unit Price’ Support Line Item is a type of line items under NDIS Pricing Arrangements. Supports are not subject to a price limit and $1.00 is not the maximum price to be charged for a unit, it is how a claim is made to the NDIA.Each of the Notional Unit Prices might have their own pricing limits.
This line item is used to claim the non-labour costs associated with transporting a participant to or from Capacity Building supports related to finding and keeping a job.
It's important to note that the support worker's time spent transporting the participant is claimed separately under the relevant primary support item. This line item is used only for the additional costs of the journey itself.
✅ What Costs Are Covered?
With the participant's prior agreement, a provider can make a reasonable claim for non-labour costs incurred while transporting a participant. These include:
Road tolls
Parking fees
Public transport fares
Vehicle running costs (e.g., petrol, wear and tear)
The NDIS provides the following guide for what is considered a reasonable contribution for vehicle running costs:
Up to $0.99 per kilometre for a standard vehicle that is not modified for accessibility.
Up to $2.76 per kilometre for a vehicle that is modified for accessibility or a bus.
If two or more participants are transported on the same trip, these costs must be apportioned between the participants.
???? How to Claim This Item
This support item is not subject to a price limit but has a "notional" unit price of $1.00. To claim, you must convert the total cost of the transport into units.
Example: A provider transports a participant to a workplace assessment. The total non-labour cost for the trip (e.g., tolls and kilometres travelled) is $35.50.
The provider would submit a claim for 35.5 units at a price of $1.00 per unit.
Claims for this item must be made separately from the claim for the primary support (such as the employment assistance itself) and any claim for the worker's travel time.
Would you like me to explain the rules for claiming a provider's travel time or provide details on another NDIS line item?
Some activities can be delivered without the participant percent
Some providers can charge participants for the time it takes them to travel and deliver support
